Herb Infused Epsom Salts
At Retreat Remedies we LOVE a good soak especially when its dowsed with natural remedies and ritual to give love to self, a real treat to our bodies to let go of the day (or even more indulgent a morning bath to set you up for a super special day) A baths worth of Epsom salts infused with dried lavender, rose, calendula and rosemary for that special soak.
Having the correct balance of salts and minerals in the body is critical to ones bio chemistry and good health. Epsom salt, named for a bitter saline spring at Epsom in Surrey, is not actually salt but a naturally occurring pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulphate. Magnesium is one of the most common deficiency’s people suffer from today due to a lack of it in our over cropped lands and stressful lifestyles. Magnesium deficiencies can cause many health issues including increased sensitivity, anxiety, nervousness, irritability, mental depression, confusion, twitching, trembling and aching muscles, painful joints, insomnia and in severe cases can lead to cancer, strokes and diabetes. Epsom salts are a long known natural remedy for putting in the bath to soak in, where they can be absorbed through the skin and help rebalance your bio chemistry. They have numerous health benefits...
Time is precious, as is our health, taking the time and responsibility to heal and take care of ourselves is so important in our busy life’s. Soaking in an Epsom Salt bath is a wonderful chance for the body to relax while the hot water encourages blood circulation and absorption of the therapeutic salts. However it’s also a chance to be still and surrender the mind. Easier said than done, a skill that some of us need to practice but I find lighting some candles and setting a relaxed ambience can help with this maybe even some music.
